LOVE letter
H
ow do you want to spend this summer FEELING?
I normally head into summer with hope and grand plans for what I want to do (and not do). Much of that involves working from the patio, a few mid-week beach days and overall just feeling much more at ease. I can almost smell the BananaBoat just thinking about it. But if I’m honest, my summers rarely end up filled with ease. Most of the time I hit August begging school to start a few weeks earlier.
What I've learned over the years is that if I want things to change, I have to change first. Often it’s not about just changing what I do, it’s first changing how I “be”. For instance, If I want to create space in the summer to rest, I have to believe and think that rest is a great way of spending my time. Up until a few years ago, I thought “rest” = “laziness”. I used to look at someone sitting on the couch in the middle of a Saturday and think “must be nice”. Now, I see rest as a strategy.
Things like your thoughts and your beliefs dictate how you feel. It wasn’t until I started becoming aware of the thoughts I had around rest and play, and did the work to change them, that my life started shifting, and ease became possible.
If you want to do the same work I did to learn to think differently and change your outcomes, I invite you to join me this summer in the Summer School version of Redefine Your Mind, my group program that helps women change their lives, from the inside out.
