Your body is just trying to tell you something and we need to start listening to that.
We do not have to settle. We can have it all and we can feel great today. It doesn’t have to be feeling lousy and tired all the time or accepting the weight that we're putting on. All of this can be fixed in a natural way.
The work that you're doing is giving us an alternative. We can be empowered to take our own journey back and have some agency over our bodies again.
The other thing that we're really lousy at is putting ourselves first. I saw this crazy statistic that women literally put themselves behind not only their families, but also even our dogs and cats.
Yeah, actually, I do that.
Our goal is, how do we figure out a way to help women give themselves permission to put themselves first in a way that's convenient and not pulling away from all their other responsibilities?
How did you become passionate about advancing women's health?
It all started when I led this other functional medicine startup. That's where I met Lynn and Mark, our medical co-founders. I was in my mid 40s and I was like, how did I not know about this earlier? This is insane. My passion project that I held onto all these years was that there's got to be a way for us to bring this type of medicine to women everywhere at a place, one, much more convenient and, two, on a much more affordable basis.
The ding on functional medicine today is that it's very, very expensive. It's 10, 15 thousand dollars a year. It's very hard to get into seeing a practitioner like one of our co-founders. My "why" behind LERA was finding a way to make it much more accessible. There shouldn't be a barrier of money or time to have this type of knowledge. It's something we all deserve.
I remember talking with a very close friend after I had my first two children and was experiencing changes in my hormones and I was asking “Why doesn't anybody talk about this?”
You just accept it and keep moving. You're so heads down in your career and raising kids and juggling everything in your life that you just accept it. It does not have to be that way. That's really what I want everyone to know. LERA is really passionate about helping support and change women's health in a very different way than we've ever seen before.
How does someone learn more about LERA and the work that you're doing?
The best way is to go to our website lerahealth.com and it's L-E-R-A and sign up for our waitlist. We'll make sure that we stay in touch with folks. We're targeting mid-year for our launch.
I can't wait to share all of this with the entire audience. Thank you so much for being here!
