Now, let’s talk about the how. Below I walk through 2 proven practices to support you on your journey to being fully self-expressed:

Practice

Practice #1

Your body is your vessel and is a huge piece of the self-expression puzzle. In addition to not using our voices, many of us were taught to stuff our feelings inside or numb ourselves. Given this, it’s imperative that you practice being in and being with your body.

- Dancing - Shaking -

- Slow Yogic Movement -

- Hugging Yourself -

Pick a time midday, set an alarm on your phone and choose 1 of the 4 choices above. When the alarm rings, do it. Get the stagnant energy out of your body and move. It can feel silly or trivial at first, but these energetic check-ins can turn any day around and remove the mind-body autopilot setting many of us are using during the day.

I know, praising yourself feels foreign, and in some instances may even feel indulgent. I assure you it’s not. It's an essential part of the internal strategy of success.

Every evening before you go to sleep, I invite you to practice 3 ‘Yay Me’s!’ Keep a journal and a pen on your bedside table and write three celebrations of yourself. Here’s what it looks like:

‘Yay Me!’ I took a dance break today.

‘Yay Me!’ I challenged my partner in today’s board meeting.

‘Yay Me!’ I asked my spouse to pick up the kids from school so I could enjoy some alone time.

*Yay Me’s must be about you, not other people and things in your life.

If you’re feeling ambitious, write out 3 “Yay Me’s” at the end of your work day in addition to the three at night.

Remember, living as your true self is a journey, not a light switch flip. Try these exercises for at least two weeks and begin to notice the difference in yourself.

Both of these practices give you a taste of the type of inner work we deliver inside our signature transformational program for high-achieving women, called Redefine Your Mind. This program has helped women just like you become more present, more connected and confidently expressed. Here’s what Carmen had to say: “I joined the class at one of my lowest professional points in my career, and by the end, I had the perspective I needed to make changes in both my environment and my mindset. In three months, I have already met many of the annual goals I have set for myself.”
