Letter from the Editor

hello!

DEAR

READER

A

re you in a busy season of life?

Me too. In fact, I’m starting to wonder if this season will ever shift. Between graduations, concerts and sports this time of year has rarely been calm, but for some reason, I am feeling it more acutely than ever. In my body and in my heart. This pace just never seems to stop.

This magazine is my love letter to you. Let's get started!

On my way to speak at Women In Infastructure!

I am willing to take Radical Personal Responsibility and admit that much of this is my doing. I said yes to many of these commitments and this beautifully complicated life has been built year by year, decision by decision.

I recently gave a talk to a room of high achieving women who work in Infrastructure. It was a fun, impactful evening of conversation about career planning, burnout and mental management. Interestingly, the one topic that I didn’t expect to get such an overwhelming response on was the topic that I needed to hear myself speak on the most. Energetic management.

I have come to believe that the ability to manage your energy is the key to longevity, both in your life and career. The funny thing is, it rarely gets much airtime. In my corporate career, time management was seen as a top skill and while yes, we all have the same 24 hours in a day, we are not all working with the same set of responsibilities and stakeholders. In order to thrive, it is imperative that we start optimizing our life for what gives us energy while at the same time offsetting what sucks it out of us.

If you want to learn more about energetic management and learn a practical application tool to implement it, check out my coaching exercise on page 6. Have you been yearning for more ease, fun, productivity or joy? It doesn’t come in scheduling everyone else’s priorities over yours. Remember, you are the asset. So…what gives you energy? Let’s do more of that.
